So we started our morning by leaving Homebase just after 05:30, Stephanie & Leon Snr & Jnr….little Lian is visiting Erika & Leonardus for the holiday.

We arrived at the majestic Silent Valley…home of the Greater Kudu in the Bulgerivier area. Dr Ampie was already in the veld looking for two Golden Wildebeest Bulls which we need to load and take to the Gravelotte area. After a short wait, we were called in to drive to where the bulls were darted. We quickly took the necessary measurements and loaded the bulls in Mopani, our 4-compartment bull trailer. Dr Ampie monitored the bulls and after confirmation that he was happy to send the bulls we started our long journey towards the Eastern part of Limpopo called the Lowveld.

On route to Polokwane, we stopped for a short break to check the bulls and fill up with diesel.
Little Leon got a Scooby Doo toy to keep himself busy on the road.

When you get to the Haenertsburg area it feels like you are going on vacation. The topography is so different. Haenertsburg’s scenic beauty is striking. The misty mountains, lush forests, and rolling hills create that vacation feeling. It’s no wonder it’s dubbed the “Land of the Silver Mist”. The drop in temperature is amazing then you go uphill.

Traveling down Magoebaskloof’s rugged beauty and tranquil atmosphere make it a unique experience. We have to be hard on the brakes at a slow pace downhill.

We entered Tzaneen around lunchtime but pushed through the get the bulls delivered…the temperature was pushing into the 30 degrees.

Upon arrival at Kilima Game Reserve, we were met by the owner’s son, Ehrus, who guided us to the offloading point. We parked the trailer and opened the doors…the bulls jumped off and ran into the veld. They were a bit unsure but started exploring their new home right away.

We did the necessary paperwork and off we went to “Die Eiland”. This is our home away from home when doing wildlife transport to the Gravelotte area. Especially when the kids travel with…it’s not easy for them being in the vehicle all day so we spoil them by taking them to Eiland for a bit of a reward.

We traveled back the following day after some well-deserved relaxation.
