Attention: All Livestock & Game Farmers
Due to the ongoing risk of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), we urgently request all owners of split-hooved animals to comply strictly with current State Veterinary control measures.
❗ IMPORTANT PROTOCOL:
-
No split-hooved animals may be moved without a valid State Veterinarian permit.
-
This applies to all movements, including:
-
Farm-to-farm transfers
-
Sales and auctions
-
Slaughter transport
-
Game capture and relocation
-
Split-hooved animals include (but are not limited to):
Cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and cloven-hoofed wildlife species.
🛑 WHY THIS MATTERS:
Foot and Mouth Disease spreads extremely fast and has serious economic, trade, and biosecurity consequences.
One unpermitted movement can cause a large-scale outbreak.
⏳ TIMING IS CRITICAL:
We still have approximately a month and a half before the mass capture season opens.
If we work together now, comply with protocols, and prevent unnecessary movement, we can make a real differenceand protect the upcoming season.
✅ WHAT FARMERS & LANDOWNERS SHOULD DO:
-
Do not move any split-hooved animals without official State Vet approval
-
Enforce strict biosecurity protocols
-
Limit unnecessary access to animal areas
-
Report any suspicious symptoms immediately to your local State Veterinarian
Your cooperation is essential to protecting our farms, wildlife, livelihoods, and the future of the industry.
Let’s stand together and stop the spread of FMD.
